When it comes to a flawless paint job, preparation is half the battle. At JG Painting, we take care of most of the heavy lifting — but there are a few small things you can do as a homeowner to help make the process smoother, faster, and safer.
Here are 5 simple ways to prepare your space before our team arrives:
1. Clear the Walls
Please take down any artwork, mirrors, clocks, or shelves. This helps protect your belongings and gives us direct access to the walls.
2. Move Furniture (if possible)
We’re happy to help with the big stuff, but if you can move small furniture items like chairs or lamps out of the room in advance, it speeds things up and protects your valuables.
3. Tidy Up Baseboards and Corners
Dust and cobwebs tend to collect where walls meet floors and ceilings. A quick vacuum or wipe-down helps us apply paint cleanly and avoid imperfections.
4. Secure Pets and Kids
For everyone’s safety, keep pets and little ones away from work areas. Paint fumes and open tools can pose a risk.
5. Make Notes of Any Wall Damage
If you’ve noticed nail holes, dings, or cracks you’d like fixed before painting, let us know! We handle surface repairs as part of prep, and it's helpful to know your priorities ahead of time.
A little prep goes a long way. The smoother the start, the better the finish.
