Painting your home’s interior isn’t just about color it’s about long-lasting quality. Whether you’ve just had your rooms repainted or are planning a refresh, these tips will help your paint job look great for years to come.
1. Choose the Right Sheen
Different areas of your home call for different finishes. For example:
Flat/Matte: Great for low-traffic areas (bedrooms)
Eggshell or Satin: Ideal for hallways, living rooms, and kitchens
Semi-gloss: Best for bathrooms and trim (easy to clean)
2. Ventilation Matters
After painting, keeping air circulating helps the paint cure properly. Even after it's dry to the touch, paint can take days to fully harden.
3. Avoid Harsh Cleaners
When cleaning painted walls, skip bleach or strong chemicals. A gentle solution of water and mild dish soap will keep things looking fresh without stripping color.
4. Touch Up Strategically
For minor scuffs or chips, use leftover paint with a small foam brush or roller. Try feathering the edges so the touch-up blends seamlessly.
5. Stay Ahead of Humidity
High humidity (especially in bathrooms) can cause bubbling or mold. Consider adding ventilation or switching to a mold-resistant paint in high-moisture areas.
Quality paint and proper care go hand in hand and JG Painting is always here to guide you through both.
